Back in 1987 when my wife and I started preparing our 5 acres for our home we did not have the money required for development. We were lucky to have had to wait because I took 12 years to shape and clear the 5 acres leaving 90% of the Pines and Palmetto. We installed a 900 ft. driveway and utitlities and in 1999 placed the house perfectly. It was also our good fortune to build small for economics. Now Lee County considers any house under 1000 sq.ft.(ours is 912 under air)qualified for guest house which means another unattached home of larger size may be built and share utilities making this a home and a vacant lot! Who knew being poor would be so good. We have a flow through yard due to seasonal rains and some years "sheet flow". The home, yard, and driveway sets up to 3 ft above any recorded water levels. To the other extreme the estate has periodic drought and we have installed a natural landscape that has endured the years without irrigation. Any given year the water table fluctuates 8 ft. between drought and flood with 6-8 months of mellow normal conditions The purpose of this site is to provide photographs and web sites that can convey the challanges of living in a bird sanctuary and show off our land and location. Convenient to our home is golf course, regional shopping opportunities, and Bonita Beach. It could be a great opportunity to take our place. Our area has a wide variety of hospitals and health parks. Also is a hardy evening life with fine dining and two performing arts centers and a arena for hockey and concerts ten minutes away from home. We have a mix of total tranquility and privacy with nature. There is abundant wildlife to witness from your living room and the city life in Southwest Florida is minutes away. You may build a new house and use the existing one as a guest house. This map details the seasonal sheetflow and the optional sites for an executive home. I have cleared and prepared site 1 and soon will build myself. Survey for the 4.88 acres Check out the links below |
